The Tower Hamlets Rifles was converted to artillery as th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (Rifle Brigade) In there was a reduction in size of the TA. The Tower Hamlets Rifles were reduced to battery size, forming one third of a regiment, as R (Tower Hamlets Rifles) Battery, th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment Royal Artillery.

Their history is relatively sparse; eventually, through successive amalgamations, they were absorbed into a series of TA divisions of the Rifle Brigade.

Through amalgamations it was known, at the time of his death, as the 2nd Tower Hamlets Rifle Volunteers. That title is stated on his Memorial in the City of London Cemetery.
